Amarillo teen pronounced dead after being hit by car

Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo teen dies after he was hit by two cars while trying to run across the road.

Two teens, ages 13 and 17, were attempting to cross the street at 45th and Bell.

Amarillo police say the older male pushed the button for the crosswalk and the younger male took off running.

According to witnesses, both north and south bound traffic had a green light and the boys were crossing against the signal.

As the 13 year old was crossing, he was struck by a pick-up, and then hit by a second vehicle.

He was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, where he was pronounced dead.

The case will be presented to the Randall County DA's office for review. The other teen was reportedly uninjured.
