LPS Students Releasing Early Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON Okla_ Lawton Public Schools students will be released after a half-day of classes Wednesday, so teachers can undergo their third professional development training session of the year.

As part of the teacher training, a district-wide meeting is planned at 2 p.m. in the Lawton High School auditorium. Certified staff will discuss some of the evolving situations that are increasingly affecting the classroom teaching process, including teacher shortages, the current emphasis on testing, and legislative and Oklahoma State Department of Education mandates on school districts.

Area political leaders have been invited to sit in on this educational process, which is expected to last about 90 minutes.
