The Lawton City Council approved the increase of several fees connected to the animal welfare department Tuesday.
The council first debated the fee hike at their last meeting, but failed to get enough votes. Tuesday's approval means the costs will rise for services such as the pick-up and disposal of dead pets and the charge to give up unwanted pets.
There will also be a new fees for exotic animals at the shelter. This is the first time the fees have been raised in more than a decade.
