Violent crime spree results in a Clovis man being sentenced to life in prison

Clovis, NM -

A Clovis man is sentenced to life in prison, plus 100 years, for a violent crime spree in June, 2012.

Judge Stephen Quinn made the decision Tuesday, after calling 32 year old Jimmy Reagan's actions "some of the most horrific" he has ever seen.

Reagan committed multiple felonies, including first degree murder.

The crime spree was spread over 6 locations and had 14 victims. It all started on June 6, 2012 when Reagan, walked into the backyard of a Clovis home and sexually assaulted a female who was sitting outside. Reagan then forced his way inside, killing 35 year old Shondel Lofton, before taking two additional female hostages at gunpoint and sexually assaulting them.

During the crime spree, Reagan attempted to enter multiple homes in the Clovis area. After a short standoff, Curry County Sheriff's Deputies and New Mexico State Police were eventually able to stop and capture Reagan.

Reagan old has been in custody since June of last year.
