Operation Homefront Gives to Lawton Military Families

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla. - Local military families received a little extra help for the holiday season Saturday as Operation Homefront held its 4th annual toy distribution.

Military families with ranks E-6 and under were able to go and get toys, coats, diapers, and other items for their children.

Ashley Garrett has two children, and her husband has been deployed since April.

Saturday's event takes away the extra burden of the holiday season, allowing her the chance at a worry-free, one-stop Christmas shopping experience.

"I don't have a lot of time so I don't have a lot of time to go get them certain things. So coming here and having everything in one place helps a lot. You know anything that you can get at the holiday season is something that helps," said Garrett.

Operation Homefront is a national non-profit organization.

Last year, they donated 9 million toys to more than 20,000 military children around the country.
