Fort Sill Unit Returns in Time for Christmas

Posted: Updated:

FORT SILL Okla_ There's no place like home for the holidays, and about 180 soldiers who've been away from their families for months know that only too well.

"There's no better feeling than getting every soldier back off of a mission safely and soundly," 3rd Battalion of the 2nd Air Defense Artillery Commander Lieutenant Colonel John Dawber said.

Tuesday, he said he's glad his troops are back on US soil at Fort Sill, just in time for Christmas.

"The biggest reward for everybody is getting home in time for Christmas," Dawber said. "Our senior leaders made sure that happened for us. It's a great feeling."

The soldiers have been in Turkey for the past several months on a peacekeeping mission.
