McALESTER, Okla._A man convicted of a murder in Ringling was executed Tuesday night at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Johnny Black was put to death for the stabbing of Bill Pogue in a roadside attack in 1998.
Black had apologized to the victim's family during a clemency hearing last month. He said the attack was a case of mistaken identity. His request for a change in sentence to life in prison without parole was denied. Black's execution was the 6th this year in Oklahoma.
