Oklahoma Bracing For 2nd Winter Storm In 15 Days

Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma is bracing for a second winter storm in the past 15 days with snow and ice forecast across the northern half of the state.

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning starting at 6 p.m. Friday and from Clinton in western Oklahoma to northeastern Oklahoma counties that border Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain says the state's Emergency Operations Center has been activated for extended hours and a decision will be made Friday night whether to keep the center open 24 hours.

The weather service says ice accumulations of one-quarter to one-half inch are possible and that two to four inches of snow could in north-central Oklahoma.

A Dec. 5 winter storm was blamed for 10 deaths in the state.
