Icy Weather Causes Power Outages

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla. - Winter made a grand entrance with freezing temperatures and rain Friday night and Saturday morning.

Across southwest Oklahoma, people woke up Saturday to a thick layer of ice blanketing cars, power lines, and trees.

Saturday night, the heavy layer of ice continued to bring down power lines while causing treacherous travel in some parts of the state.

Hundreds in Comanche County were without power Saturday night as a result of the ice storm.

The Public Service Company of Oklahoma said that power outages will continue to happen as the ice weighs down tree limbs and power lines and the wind begins to gust.

PSO said customers should prepare for possible outages extending throughout Saturday night due to the high call volume statewide.

If you have an outage to report, call 1-888-218-3919.
