Area woman charged with capital murder after Shamrock woman is found dead

An area woman is charged with capital murder after a Shamrock woman is found dead in her home and her child goes missing.

31 year old Adriana Lisa Perez is currently being held in the Gray County Jail after being arrested Monday night when DPS Troopers reported finding her with the infant of another woman who had been found dead in her home.

The body of 23 year old Leslie Perez was found in her Shamrock residence after emergency responders arrived for a call of medical assistance.

When police arrived, they realized Perez's two week old child was missing. A witness provided police with a description of a vehicle spotted leaving the scene. Just an hour later, the search ended, when Adriana Lisa Perez was pulled over in a car matching that description.

Inside, police found the child who was returned safely to family.

Neighbor Cynthia Morgan told us she worked with Leslie Perez for four years at the Shamrock General Hospital. When she arrived home Monday night, Morgan said she was shocked to see all the police activity next door. "I seen a whole bunch of police lights and then one of my friends facebooked me on Facebook and told me what had happened," she said. "She didn't deserve it but only the good Lord known when, where and why," Morgan added.

The cause of death has not been released, and authorities have not determined whether the two women were related.
