Holiday Shopping Continues After Christmas Day

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON Okla_ The day after Christmas is one of the busiest shopping days of the year. You expect to see those standing in a line with a receipt in one hand and a gift in the other, ready to make a return or exchange.

Here in Lawton though, it looked like most people are looking to spend their Christmas money on some great deals. A ton of shoppers came in looking for deals or to return that questionable Christmas gift they received from a relative. It wasn't that busy early Thursday, but after people woke up from their Christmas slumber and ate some leftovers, Central Mall was packed.

"I am spending all my gift cards I got for Christmas," one shopper said. "We're shopping, we are looking for deals. We got some Christmas money, and we wanted to go shopping!"

If Santa didn't bring you want you wanted, there were some great deals out there to help you. Most retailers didn't have strong pre-Christmas sales, and they are looking to make that back with hot after-Christmas deals that could save you money, even if you are just exchanging presents.

"Sometimes things don't fit," a shopper said. "You can come back the day after and get a better deal."

It's not just the major retailers; local businesses are more than happy to help you save a buck or two, but they will also help with returns.

"Our job is to make it as easy for the customer trying to exchange or return something as possible," local business owner Eddie Hamra said.

With these deals, some people are buying gifts for next Christmas. You can even find bargains on other returned Christmas gifts.
