New Year's Eve options in Okla. include olive drop

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Forget the requisite flashing ball drop. Revelers at the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Price Tower in northeastern Oklahoma will be ringing in 2014 with the lowering of a giant olive into a martini glass.

The 19-story building in Bartlesville is home to the Inn at Price Tower and the Copper Bar in addition to an art museum and historic tours.

Guest Services Associate Tina Davis Lovec says organizers selected an olive because it goes with the theme of the Copper Bar.

The olive drop is one of several options Oklahomans will have on Tuesday to celebrate the new year. Other events include 5K runs, a sobriety powwow and a party hosted by Thunder forward Kevin Durant.
