Reimbursement denied for personal items lost in October bus fire

Posted: Updated:

NORMAN, Okla._ Norman School District is denying reimbursement for students personal items which were lost after a school charter bus when up in flames on I-44 back in October.

The bulging blaze burned the bus down to its metal frame. Luckily, all of the students made it out without injury. Their belongings, however, did not, including many instruments and band uniforms.

The group was headed from Norman High School en route to Cameron University for one of their biggest competitions of the year.

More than $40,000 in damages are not covered by the school district's insurance company. They will cover the lost instruments and uniforms. The families will have to file individual claims to be considered for reimbursement.
