Lawton woman to serve 33 months for ATM thefts

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON,Okla_A Lawton woman must spend nearly three years in prison for stealing close to one million dollars from ATM's in the area.

Maria Martin pleaded guilty to the crime back in September and was sentenced to 33 months behind bars Tuesday.

Martin worked for a company that serviced the machines and would reload them with cash from the banks.  Starting in 2011, Martin kept the money instead of putting it in the machines.

Martin said she gambled most of it away, sometimes putting over $70,000 into a single slot machine.

When martin is released, she'll be on probation and required to pay roughly $850,000 in restitution to the financial institutions she stole from.
