Charge amended against Kitchens

Lawton, Ok_A charge against a Lawton man accused in a deadly shooting last summer has been amended.

Klayton Kitchens, 23, was initially charged with manslaughter in connection with the May 2013 shooting death of Christopher Moore, 26.

However, the charge was amended to first-degree-murder because the District Attorney's office believes the crime was pre-meditated.

Investigators say Kitchens admitted to killing Moore during an argument but said he feared for his life and shot Moore in self-defense.

Under the new charge, Kitchens could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
