Lawsuit over developmentally disabled services in New Mexico

Posted: Updated:

The state of New Mexico is facing a lawsuit over cuts to services for the developmentally disabled.

A lawsuit was filed Wednesday to restore services that were lost by individuals. The suit would also stop Governor Susana Martinez's administration from continuing with changes to funding for Medicaid programs which serve about 4,000 people.

But a main dispute is over changes to how recipients are evaluated for their level of services.

Services can include anything from residential care as well as occupational and speech therapy.
