Burn Ban Placed Over Jefferson Co.

JEFFERSON CO., Okla_ Jefferson County has been placed under burn ban.

The Jefferson County commissioners proclaimed an extreme fire danger Tuesday, deeming any type of fire unlawful, including garbage burns and campfires. Barbecue grills are permitted, but must be off the ground. Welding is allowed, but the welder must have a spotter and enough water on hand to put out any fire that may ignite.

The declaration states any person convicted of violating the burn band could face up to $500 in fines and up to one year in prison.

Anyone looking for an exception to the ban can apply for one at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
