Cement honors death of teammate with black out game

Posted: Updated:

CEMENT,Okla_ The boys basketball team in Cement was back on the court Thursday night after one of their teammates collapsed at a game earlier this week and later died.

In packed stands at the high school, it was a sea of black, all in support of 15-year-old Seth Martin.

The girls team took the court first, all wearing headbands with Martin's jersey number 3 on them. Danny Pittman, the superintendent of Cement Public Schools, says the district of 250 students is heartbroken.

"Nobody can understand what it's like to lose their kid and it's just a terrible situation. But I've seen a lot of good things come out of it...It was just a win just to step out on the court tonight," said Pittman.

The family says the 15-year-old basketball standout died in an Oklahoma City hospital of congenital heart disease.
