11th anniversary of the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster

Saturday, February 1st, marks the 11th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

Rick Husband, one of Amarillo's own residents lost his life in the tragedy.

It was upon re-entry into the Earth atmosphere that the Columbia broke apart, and all seven crew members were killed.

An investigation board determined a piece of insulation foam broke off the space shuttle, hitting the left wing, causing the accident.
