Red Cross baby sitting class prepares area youth

Amarillo, TX -

The Texas Panhandle chapter of the Red Cross is helping area teens learn skills to help the community and their family.

Saturday, a group of girls, aged 11 to 15, had the chance to take part in the baby sitting training class. The group learned how to care for young children.

Training focused on picking up, holding, feeding and diapering infants and toddlers. "It's just a really good class for anybody whether they be a Baby Sitter or maybe just being responsible for watching their younger brother or sister after school in that situation, it gives them really good knowledge so they can do that safely," Red Cross Executive Director, Steve Pair said.

A grant from the United Way helped pay the way for low to moderate income families.
