Fundraiser honors homicide victim Stefan Rushing

LAWTON, Okla_ Over 150 people got to together to celebrate Stefan Rushing's life, and to raise funds for an academic scholarship in his name.

Rushing Angels was started by 5 middle school girls who decided they needed to do something positive for the community and one of their best friends.

Matt Ferrell was put in charge, and he understands what this means for the community.

"To have something tragic happen in this community the way it did and have the community come and pull together for something positive like this it speaks to Lawton and it's people," said Ferrell.

Saturday's talent show had hula girls, a band, and some dedicated songs for people to sit, enjoy, and remember Stefan's life.

Rushing Angels hope to raise over $5,000 to put in the academic scholarship fund.

There is no time table on when that fund will be officially set-up.
