Duncan utility bill mix-up

Posted: Updated:

DUNCAN, Okla_An envelope mix-up in Duncan is responsible for sending hundreds and possibly thousands of the city's utility payments to another state.

About 3,000 envelopes mailed to city residents for utility payments this week were incorrectly addressed.

City Manager Jim Frieda said Peregrine Corporation Business Products and Services, handles billing for the city and placed the incorrect return envelopes into the bills sending the payments to Olathe, Kansas.

The City of Duncan saves money by contracting with Peregrine because the company receives postage discounts. Olathe, Kansas also is a client of the company.

The payments are now being rerouted to Duncan.
