Lawton_Klayton Kitchens, the Lawton man accused of murder in the shooting death of a friend, was found not guilty Wednesday night.
The jury deliberated for three hours before reaching their verdict. Kitchens was charged with first-degree murder, in the killing of Christopher Moore last May, but the jury also had the option of finding him guilty of the lesser charge of second-degree murder, or manslaughter.
The defense built their case on Kitchens' original claim of self-defense. They said Kitchens feared for his life because he believed Moore was in a gang. They said he was also limited in his ability to fight Moore because his hand was in a cast.
The prosecution said Kitchens was angry that Moore was making him pay to get his own stolen gun back, and decided to kill Moore instead.
