Sooners add offensive firepower with 2014 recruiting class

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma built on the momentum from its Sugar Bowl win over Alabama by pulling in what coach Bob Stoops called one of his best recruiting classes.

The top player is 6-foot-2, 216-pound Joe Mixon. He is listed as's No. 1 running back and's No. 1 all-purpose back. He ran for 1,704 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior at Freedom High School in Oakley, Calif.

Stoops said 5-foot-11, 238-pound running back Samaje Perine is an incoming freshman who is built like a junior.

The Sooners added height at wide receiver - 6-foot-6 Jeffery Mead of Tulsa Union, 6-foot-6 Mark Andrews of Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., and 6-foot-5 Dallis Todd of La Mirada (Calif.) High School.
