Crews working to repair burst pipe at Eisenhower elementary

Lawton, Ok_Classes were canceled Friday at Eisenhower elementary school because of a burst pipe.

When staff members arrived, they found water rushing down the halls and everything on the ground in four classrooms was destroyed.

Lawton Public Schools quickly notified parents and worked throughout the morning to get students home safely before shutting the water off.

School maintenance workers blamed the cold weather. They said the break happened in a service line running to the new classroom addition in the school.

The school is assessing the damages and should have a dollar amount next week. They plan to work through the weekend to get everything repaired so that students can return to school on Monday.
