Flappy Bird ruined creator's life

Posted: Updated:

HANOI, Vietnam._After being available since 2013 and recently rising to one of the most downloaded apps, Flappy Bird is no longer available for download.

After its initial release in May of 2013, game developer Dong Nguyen claims he did not promote it but it eventually grew to fame in December with over 50 million downloads from Apple's App Store alone. At the height of its fame, revenue from advertising was reported to bring in $50,000 per day.

29 year-old Nguyen tweeted Saturday that in 22 hours, the game would be taken down. Rumors of legal action being taken against his artistic choice in designing Flappy Bird were dismissed by Nguyen stating the game's fame had simply ruined his quiet life.

Sellers on eBay are offering phones and tablets with the game pre-installed ranging from a few hundred to thousands of dollars. For the users that already have the game installed you'll still be able to play just like before.
