Public input vital to the future of Sheppard Air Force Base

WICHITA FALLS, TX._The City of Wichita Falls, in cooperation with regional jurisdictions, agencies and organizations, is preparing a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to address compatibility planning for areas surrounding Sheppard Air Force Base. The primary objective of the JLUS is to reduce potential conflicts between Sheppard AFB, Frederick Regional Airport, and surrounding areas while accommodating new growth and economic development, sustaining economic vitality, protecting public health and safety, and sustaining the operational missions of Sheppard.

The Public Draft JLUS will be made available to the public on February 14, 2014.  This provides the public the opportunity to review the document and provide feedback to the City.  Two previous public forums were held on the JLUS last year that provided the public with an overview of the process and gathered input that was incorporated into the JLUS. The final public forums to discuss the Public Draft JLUS will be held the last week of February, 2014 in both Frederick, OK and in Wichita Falls, TX.

In order to develop a plan that is responsive to local needs, input from the community is critical.

For more information and to view a copy of the Public Draft JLUS, please visit the project's website at: www.sheppardjlus.com or contact the JLUS Project Manager, Kevin Hugman, at 940-761-7404 or by email, kevin.hugman@wichitafallstx.gov.
