FT. SILL, Okla._The future commanding general of the United States Army Fires Center of Excellence and Ft. Sill has been announced.
Major General John G. Rossi will assume command from Major General James M. "Mark" McDonald. Currently Maj. Gen. Rossi is serving as the Director of the Army Quadrennial Defense Review Office in Washington D.C. Prior to assuming that post he served as the Commanding General of the 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command in Ft. Bliss, Texas. Maj. Gen McDonald is scheduled to become the next commander of the United States Army Security Assistance Command in Huntsville, Al.
Maj. Gen Rossi has received a Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal among others. He has also served as the Commander of the 2nd Battalion during Operation Desert Storm and was an Effects Coordinator in Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn.
As of now, the effective date for the change in position has not been set but should be released in the near future.
