Dance Groups Want to Stomp Out Violence

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._Area dance groups offered tribute to the legacy of the buffalo soldiers tonight at Lawton City Hall.

The Lawton-Fort Sill Alumni chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi held the second annual fundraising event called "Stomp 2: The Tribute."

The goal of the fundraising is to keep kids off of the street, and give them the right path to focus on education.

Donald Henderson of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club says shows like this are a positive step to stop violence.

"This is important for the community. The community has six or seven murders already so if we can get positive messages and give kids positive things to look forward too then maybe this can stop some of the violence," he said.

The event had performances from all age groups, dance groups, and Greek organizations across Oklahoma.

They hope to continue to do this next year to help eliminate violence in Lawton.
