JEFFERSON COUNTY, Okla._The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners have extended the county-wide burn ban due to the extreme fire danger.
Under the burn ban it is illegal to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop or other wildlands. It is also illegal to build a campfire or bonfire or to burn trash or other materials. You are allowed to B.B.Q. without a ground fire and you can also weld with the assistance of a spotter and an ample water supply.
This resolution is in effect for 30 days starting Feb. 18 and may be ended sooner by the county board. If fire danger persists after 30 days the board will have an additional meeting to extend the timeframe at that time.
