Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._As the weather warms up, you'll probably notice more bikers on the road including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's motorcycle unit.

Those troopers are doing their part to make sure all bikers are safe by teaming up with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to offer a free motorcycle safety awareness class right here in Lawton.

Trooper Clint Riddle explains, "We do a one day class to instruct riders in the Lawton area and give them instruction on advanced braking techniques, we're going to do emergency braking, we're also giving instructions on evasive maneuvering and teach them how to manipulate the bike at slow speeds."

The class is March 8th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lawton's East Side Park. To sign up, you have to have a class "m" endorsement and your own bike.

Just to go to OHPsaferiders.com to register. If you finish the course, you'll get a break on your insurance.
