LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton elementary school teacher is speaking out against the "A" through "F" grading scale.
The grading scale and third grade testing retention law were topics discussed at the Frederick Douglass Professional Development Center Thursday evening. That's where Cleveland Elementary Special Education teacher, Melissa Price, discussed her problems with the current system.
"As soon as you put that paper, pencil test in front of them and expect them to be on another students' level, they lose faith in themselves," said Price.
Price added the testing drains her students, who she says are much more capable than what the results reveal. The forum's guest speaker was the lead organizer for "VOICE" a group of leaders, parents and teachers who try to inform the public about the testing scale.
