Father surprised by restored bike

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_The rain didn't stop one Lawton son from surprising his father with something that hasn't been seen in nearly thirty-five years.  The surprise took place at an area car show at the cache road square shopping center.   The whole family was there to witness the father's face as he laid eyes on his new motorcycle that hadn't ran in more than three decades.

The father, Scott Busse, was surprised to see his bike from so long ago. He said, "I didn't know what to think. It was like, at first that kind of looked familiar, but I just didn't believe it was mine."

It has been nearly 35 years since the bike ran. His son, Ryan Busse, said his hard working father deserves this nice surprise. "He worked hard his whole life. I mean he has done a lot," said Ryan.

A surprise that was months in the making. They enlisted the help of an Elgin motorcycle shop.  Alan "Animal" Hakworth explained how it all began. He said, "Well these folks showed up about 90 days ago, or three months ago, with his bike and said that the father hadn't had it running in almost 35 years and they wanted to surprise him with it so they snuck it out of his house behind his back and this is what we came up with."

The father approved, saying it looks exactly like it did thirty some years ago. "It is just unbelievable. They did a wonderful job; it's just like how I remember it. I couldn't ask for anything better," said Scott.

An old bike brought back to life, standing for what family means. Scott explained exactly what the bike meant for him. He said, "It stands for love and affection right now, my kids especially doing it for me. Thank you so much."
