Martinez charged in afternoon shooting

LAWTON, Okla._A Lawton man, charged with shooting with the intent to kill, is free tonight after posting a $100,000 bond.

31-year-old Loyd Martinez is accused of shooting a 26-year-old man in the stomach after he and the victim got into an argument Friday, March 21. Court documents show that on the day of the shooting, when questioned by police Martinez said "it was basically premeditated, kind of, kind of not."

The shooting unfolded in the front yard of the victim's home in broad daylight near northwest Third Street and Bell Avenue. The victim has since been released from the hospital.

Martinez's preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21.
