Cameron ROTC recognized for their achievements

LAWTON, Okla._Cameron University ROTC cadets were awarded sabers and scholarships for their outstanding achievements.

The ceremony is an annual tradition that celebrates students who excel in several areas including leadership, academics and their performance during national training programs. The occasion comes at a pivotal moment with this being the first year that all Cameron students will travel to Fort Knox to compete with 6,000 cadets across the country in leadership courses.

Brandon Ferraz, who was previously enlisted in the Army, says he appreciates the recognition.

"It's nice to be recognized not only for what we do nut also our potential once we move forward from ROTC into the Army. It's a great honor," said Cadet Ferraz.

In 2011, the CU Comanche Battalion was recognized as the third best ROTC unit in the nation by the order of the founders and patriots organization.
