MS Walk helps raise money for a cure

Amarillo, TX -
Around 400 people attended the Multiple Sclerosis walk-a-thon Saturday morning at Caprock High School.

The 5K event started at 10 a.m. and helped to raise money for the disease which attacks your brain and spinal cord, eventually causing your muscles to stop working.

The annual event is one of the biggest fund raisers for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which helps fund research for a cure.

"This is our fourth year at Caprock High School, we really kind of made that move so we can do a indoor outdoor setting, because you never know with the weather around here," said April Brownlee, the Senior Manager for the MS Society. "This year our goal is $106,000 so we hope to blow that out of the water," she added.
