20th Annual Comanche County Republican Barbeque

LAWTON, Okla._ The 20th Annual Comanche County Republican Party Barbecue was held Saturday at the Great Plains Technology Center.

Candidates of several state offices were there to meet and greet Comanche County Republicans.

For area Republicans, the event is an important sit down with their party leaders throughout the state.

State Representative Don Armes said such meetings put Lawton on the political stage.

"I think it's huge. I think it's a very important meeting because it brings in those candidates who might not have paid any attention to what Lawton voters thought. It's just not Lawton, it's Stephens County, Cotton County, and all of these different people. I think this has truly brought these folks together," said Armes.

Former Fourth District U.S. Representative J.C. Watts, Junior was the guest speaker at Saturday night's event.
