American Council for the Blind helping to make Easter Sunday one to remember

Posted: Updated:

A national non-profit located in Amarillo is working to help brighten Easter Sunday for local children.

The American Council for the Blind is putting together Easter baskets that will be sold at a discounted price for those who may not be able to afford one for their children.

Right now, the group is asking for your help filling them up.

They are asking for gently used or new toys, but are shying away from Easter candy and sweets.

"The main difference with our baskets is we don't put any kind of candy or edibles in it so parents or grandparents that have concerns about their kids having too much candy in their Easter baskets, this might be a good option for them," said Marie Johnson with the American Council for the Blind.

If you would like to donate, you can stop by the American Council for the Blind Thrift Store at 403 S. Western St.

Proceeds from the basket sales will directly benefit the American Council for the Blind which works to make life easier for the visually impaired.
