Teen Reach mentors teens in foster homes

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._One local group is helping teenagers in foster care by recruiting mentors to become part of their lives.

The "Teen Reach" program is looking for adults in the Lawton/Fort Sill community who are interested in making a positive impact in the lives of teens between the ages of 13 to 17. "Teen Reach" founder and organizer, Keith Paxton, says the program is meant to give these teens an extended family outside of their foster family and hopefully encourage other adults to become foster parents as well.

"Being a teenager is tough, especially with what they've been through," said Paxton.

If you're interested in becoming a mentor, there's going to be an informational meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. in the building behind the First Baptist East church. Everyone is invited to attend.
