Attempted kidnapping determined to be unfounded

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._The case of a possible attempted kidnapping has been solved, and deemed unfounded.

After the report about the possible attempted kidnapping was made public, one of the people involved contacted Lawton police and explained what happened. The woman, along with two others, was visiting a patient at Southwestern Medical Center. Three of them went out on a walk when they noticed the children playing and asked if they wanted to see the rabbits near the building.

The woman claims there was no malicious intent behind the question and simply wanted to show them the nearby rabbits. Investigators followed up on her side of the story and verified the descriptions of everyone involved. The children's mother was contacted and was made aware of the situation and stated she no longer wishes to pursue charges.

The Lawton Police Department has closed the case and it has been officially deemed as "unfounded."
