Bikers hold poker run for veterans

LAWTON, Okla_ Local bikers used Saturday to give back to our area veterans.

The Rough Riders Motorcycle Club held a poker run to raise money for the Veteran's Center, but before registration, they donated handicapped accessible planters to the center.

They donated eight in all.

The planters are aimed at helping veterans take up a hobby and boost morale at the center.

"It's a good way where they can wheel a wheelchair underneath them and do all their planting if they're handicapped.  If they can't get on their hands and need they can stand and plant," U-All, a biker in Rough Riders said.

"We like to help them pursue what they did when they were home, and a lot of them enjoyed that type of work," Tonya Hendricks, Interim Administrator for Lawton Veterans Fort Sill said.

The poker run went through Duncan, up to Apache, and ended in Medicine Park.

All money they received for the run was donated back to Oklahoma's veterans.
