Man arrested in Lawton in connection with twisted murder plot

LAWTON, Okla._ A man who is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the burning death of a Blanchard man back in January was arrested in Lawton Wednesday evening.

LPD officers, along with the U.S. Marshals, arrested 30-year-old Quentin Goodwin near 6th Street and SW Jefferson Avenue. He is one of eight people police say was involved in a twisted plot to kill a man with no prior run-ins with the law.

The murder plot, against 39-year-old Shawn Masters, involves one man who is currently serving two life sentences in prison for two separate murders. Six have been charged with murder, including Goodwin, and two others are charged with desecrating the body.

"He was burned, he was bound, and it was a very rural location where he was dropped off at," says Sgt. David Hynd, a Logan County sheriff's deputy.

Court papers say Brandy Hanson and Angel Munoz were upset with Masters after being arrested for driving a stolen vehicle Masters reportedly let them borrow.

Munoz is said to have become paranoid and called her boyfriend, Jessie Dalton, who is serving two life sentences in prison. Dalton allegedly said he would take care of the situation. That's when Goodwin, arrested in Lawton April 16, and Tyson Lott beat up Masters using a baseball bat and wooden board. When Masters wasn't dead, Hanson and Munoz stabbed Masters trying to kill him.

Munoz brother, John Worchester, helped put Masters, who was still alive, into a trash can. Another suspect, Johnny Snow, helped unload the body near Langston and used a lighter to set Masters on fire.

Fire crews putting out grassfires in the area where Masters was burned are the ones who found the body near a burning pile of leaves in rural Logan County.

Investigators are still looking for anyone who talked to Masters in the days or weeks leading up to his death.

"If you talked to him on Facebook, text message," says Hynd. "Any type of contact whatsoever between that time can give us an indication of where he was, who he was talking to."

John Worchester, 39, and Tyson Lott, 21, are both charged with murder and have not been arrested. For those with information that could help police solve this case, they are asked to call the Logan County Sheriff's Office or OSBI.
