7th Annual Cruisin' the Chisholm Trail Car Show

Posted: Updated:
DUNCAN,Okla._The 7th Annual Cruisin' the Chisolm Trail car show in Duncan attracts over two thousand people to the two day event.  With over two hundred cars at the show everyone got to see a their favorite kind of automobile.

It is more than just cars, food, and vendors. It's everyone coming out for a great time.  Event coordinator Melvin Jones said, "What happens, just like the cruise last night, the streets are filled with people visiting, gathering together. Families come out, so it's a community event that really brings everyone out."

And the event doesn't just bring people out from Duncan. It attracts people from all over, even as far away as New Mexico.  Doug Kirk and his family are from Oklahoma City, and this is their first time at the car show. There were many reasons to come to the car show but Kirk explained why he brought his family.  "Easter weekend, cars show, just trying to get away for the weekend,” said Kirk.
His son also had a blast!  "Oh, it's just fun to let him see everything, play the games, get out and interact,” said Kirk.

For years, Johnny Shahan has been coming to this car show. However, this year is the first year he has had a car in the show. Either way he loves all of it. He said, "The noise, the gasoline, and the cars,” were some of his favorite.

It's tough to choose your favorite part of the car show.  Jones said, "It's a toss up between the people and the cars. The cars are beautiful but the people that bring them are real special as well."

Event organizers say the event keeps getting bigger and better each year.  If the weather is anything like it has been this weekend, it should get bigger and better they say.
