Bug Increase in Amarillo

Amarillo,TX - We aren't the only ones to seek shelter after some rainfall.

An Amarillo bug expert we spoke with says he has handled an extreme amount of ant control issues.

He says he has seen a 20% increase in calls about ant problems compared to last year.

Brad Turner, Owner of Lady-Bug Termite & Pest Services, says ants became the number one pest in United States 8 years ago.

"They're not even starting to slow down and so we do a tremendous number of ant control issues," said Turner.

We're told the warmer weather prompts people to water their plants and clean out their flower beds.

Ants will then become mobile and crawl their way around outside and into our homes.

"I really recommend everyone keep their eye out right now," said Turner.

We're told roaches and termites are also a growing trend in Amarillo.
