Santos waives her preliminary hearing

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._A woman charged in connection with Lawton's fifth homicide of 2014 waived her right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Laquinta Santos, 21, is charged as an accessory to both murder and robbery in the death of Jimmy Kemp. Kemp was shot once in the back near a vacant apartment complex near northwest 19th Street and Hoover Avenue in February. Enrique Melendez, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery. He, too, was expected in court, but his preliminary hearing was moved to July 10 at the request of his attorney.

Santos is scheduled to be formally arraigned on May 6.
