Melendez sentencing wraps up after short delay

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._The sentencing for a man who pleaded guilty to intimidating a state witness finally finished up Wednesday.

On Monday, Carlos Melendez-Salazar was planning to plead guilty to two felony cases, but was only able to finish one. The plea for his charge of intimidating a witness was postponed because that witness had not been notified of the sentence recommendation for the plea. Wednesday, it all wrapped up with a sentencing that runs consecutive with his other felony case.

He was sentenced to 20 years, but only 10 will be served behind bars. Melendez is also a material witness in the Kenneth Nobles murder trial.

Nobles is accused of killing Jonathan Shepherd in May of last year.
