Fort Sill preps for free concert

Posted: Updated:

FORT SILL, Okla._Country music superstars, Big & Rich, is set to take the stage Friday evening on the Fort Sill Polo Field as part of their tour for the troops.

Cowboy Troy will join Big & Rich and Ken Morrow and the Hired Guns will kick off the evening at 7:00 p.m. The stage is being prepared for the concert which is open to the public and free admission. Colonel Glenn Waters, Fort Sill Garrison Commander, says events like this really strengthen the bond between Lawton and Fort Sill.

"We have had a long history with the Lawton community. We have a great rapport. It's just one of those things that bond and become close so we establish these relationships now so if an emergency happens in this area, we all know each other and can work through the emergency with no problem," said Col. Waters.

Gate two off of Rogers Lane will be open and parking will be on Conklin Field. On Saturday there will be a western heritage parade starting at 1:00 p.m. that will go from Fort Sill's museum to Rucker Park.
