OK public school bible curriculum: Sinners will suffer

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A high school curriculum billed as a way to teach archaeology and history through Bible stories also tells students God is always there in times of trouble, but that sinners must ``suffer the consequences'' of disobedience.
The Mustang School Board in suburban Oklahoma City voted this month to place the Museum of the Bible's curriculum in schools as an elective after being assured that the intent isn't to proselytize. The course is promoted by Steve Green, the president of the Hobby Lobby store chain.
The Associated Press obtained a draft copy of the curriculum from the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma, which wants the district to reconsider.
The Mustang schools superintendent said if the board believed the curriculum crossed a line it wouldn't have approved the course.
