Tipton teacher under investigation for possible misconduct

Posted: Updated:

TIPTON, Okla._A former Tipton High School teacher is being investigated for possible sexual misconduct with a student.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says the case is ongoing as they interview anyone involved. Tipton Superintendent, Shane Boothe, said the teacher resigned after the allegations were brought to light nearly two weeks ago. Boothe says the matter was brought to his attention as a violation of the district's social media policy.

He explained that teachers are not allowed to be friends on any form of social media with students. When he looked into the allegations, he found the accused teacher was friends with a student that’s when the district asked the OSBI to investigate the allegations.

At this time the teacher has not been charged with a crime.
