Fallin outraises foes by nearly 10-to-1 pace

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The latest campaign finance reports show Gov. Mary Fallin is outraising her closest opponent in the Oklahoma governor's race by a nearly 10-to-1 margin.

Campaign finance reports due by midnight Wednesday show Fallin raised more than $500,000 during the first quarter of the year, pushing her total campaign receipts beyond the $2.6 million mark. She reported having about $1.7 million in cash on hand at the end of the cycle.

The only other gubernatorial candidate to report raising any money during the first quarter is Democratic state Rep. Joe Dorman of Rush Springs.

Dorman reported raising more than $173,000 during the three-month period from Jan. 1 to March 31. That brings Dorman's total amount raised to more than $276,000. He had about $84,000 left on March 31.

The Oklahoma state Senate has passed a bill to give teachers a pay raise. The bill would raise the price of gas and diesel to pay for road maintenance and use the money already put back for road projects instead on education. The problem that many in the Senate pointed out is that they don't have the power to authorize that move.
